Students and the URJC's RR.II department will organize the "International Relations Conference" on the university's Móstoles campus on April 7, 8 and 9. Throughout the 3 days, attendees will be able to enjoy presentations, debates and colloquiums on various topics related to international news. In addition, people who cannot attend in person will be able to follow all the conferences online through URJC TV.

Some of the topics to be discussed at these conferences include "The remains of the Arab spring in Libya" on April 7, the "Economic recovery after Covid-19" on April 8 or "Euroódenes. The Puigdemont case” on Tuesday 9. Among the confirmed speakers are high-ranking officials such as the Libyan ambassador to Spain Walid Bashir Abuadalla and the Spanish MEPs Alicia Homs and Adrío Vázquez Lázara. Researchers, professors, journalists, soldiers and associations will also participate in the event.

The main objective of the conference, in the words of Ángel Núñez, co-founder of the event, is: “to create a center for discussion, exhibition, interaction and collaboration on the same stage. This benefits the attendees since it manages to provide a different approach to that which can be given purely theoretically”. The event is also intended to “collaborate with the training of attendees, ensure that ideas and approaches of positions that are useful to understand the international reality arise from the colloquiums.

Focused for lovers of global reality

The different conferences aim to reach, above all, students of International Relations. However, Núñez also explained that "as they are topics of great interest, the profile of an attendee is a person interested in geopolitics, current affairs, human rights... In short, the conferences are aimed at anyone with an interest in the global reality . They do not need to be students, they can also be graduates or professionals in other subjects”.

In the words of its co-founder, one of the reasons behind the organization of these conferences was "to help the URJC regain prestige by bringing together professionals of the highest level on its main stage".

In addition, the holding of this series of conferences has been mainly affected by the current regulations regarding Covid-19. “This is a project that started a long time ago, the pandemic has forced us to structure it with a more distanced format. The idea of doing it face-to-face never changed” declares Núñez. The organizers will follow all health recommendations and will manage to maintain a safe and interactive format. However, there have been date changes and refusal of some speakers to attend in person due to the pandemic, which did not discourage Núñez: "Despite all this, we have managed to adapt and carry out a safe, close and dynamic activity ” the student explained.
