Prepared the Pharmacological Gatherings focused on medicinal cannabis

The Rey Juan Carlos University and the Pharmakom group of the Faculty of Health Sciences will hold a seminar on the clinical use of cannabis on April 23. The event, led by professors Eva Sánchez and Carlos Goicoechea, will be held online and will take up the entire morning. The university will have recognized professors and experts with extensive research experience on the subject. The activity will consist of various presentations made by the speakers and the screening of a documentary.

Among the topics to be discussed, there will be a general review of the plant, its components and its uses, both traditional and clinical. The available evidence on the use of derivatives of the plant will also be reviewed and their current legal situation will be discussed. Finally, the participants will be able to know the point of view of some patients who are users of the plant. This initiative revolves around the authorization of the use of Medicinal Cannabis in numerous countries for pathologies ranging from epilepsy to pain treatment and the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. However, in other countries such as Spain, its clinical use has not been fully legalized and its benefits and risks are discussed, not always from scientific rigor, without adopting a clear position. This event provides people interested in the subject with an opportunity to chat with experts in order to address the subject without any prejudice.
