Today, February 1, the tenth edition of the Simulation of the United Nations Model of the Rey Juan Carlos University has begun, URJCmun. The event was inaugurated by the rector of the University, Javier Ramos López, as well as the Director General of the United Nations, International Organizations and Human Rights within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Cecilia Robles Cartes.
During the first four days of February, the participants will represent the countries or organizations of the United Nations in different committees, both in English and in Spanish. Its objective is to agree on measures and action plans to solve problems of various kinds: equality, technology, environment, among others. Beyond being delegates, students can also be part of press and staff teams.
URJCmun is organized by the students of the Rey Juan Carlos University in order to bring the community closer to the most prominent international relations and diplomacy issues of today. Since its first edition in 2013, it has become the largest Model United Nations in Spain (reaching more than 1050 participants in 2020, the last pre-pandemic MUN), and one of the most important in Europe.
