One more year, the novelties of the video game industry arrive at the Rey Juan Carlos University from the hand of gamegen, the congress organized by the student association of the Degree in Design and Development of Videogames of the URJC, Virtual Soul.

On February 22, 23 and 24, the Móstoles campus hosts talks and activities related to the video game industry. Attendees will learn from professionals what the sector is like from within and how video games are developed.

In this edition, GameGen has almost twenty speakers from this booming industry such as Juanma Moreno, cultural critic and co-creator of Nivel Oculto, who will talk about localisms to reach a global audience; Professor Isi Cano, member of the representative body of FemDevs; or Arturo Monedero, video game designer and member of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, whose paper is entitled 'The GDD and its importance in the pre-production and planning of a video game'.

After holding an online edition last year due to the coronavirus, GameGen returns to its face-to-face format in the Aula Magna del Aulario II on the Móstoles campus. Likewise, the sessions can also be followed virtually. Agustín Triguero, president of the Virtual Soul association, assures that "this year we intend to continue in the same line as other years and offer educational presentations to all those registered".

As a novelty, this edition will feature a round table in which all the speakers who exhibit at GameGen will participate. Triguero explains that they have sought to have “variety and diversity” in terms of topics: “Most of the speakers are usually developers from different perspectives. We also invite professionals from the field of business and management”, adds the president of Virtual Soul.

Tournaments and tests of 'demos'

In addition to the presentations, attendees will be able to participate in video game tournaments that will be held from 14:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. on Tuesday 22nd and Thursday 24th. According to the organization, those registered will also be able to try the different 'demos' of the productions from small studios and independent developers.

On the participation in this seventh edition of GameGen, the organization ensures that there are about 150 people registered per shift, afternoon and morning, during the three days. The program and the presentations can be consulted at the following link.
