Creativity is not a skill that only a select few possess, nor is it linked to certain artistic areas. And we can find it in different areas and with very different forms. That is why young people must work on this creativity in order to create in them a cultural and critical awareness.

With this objective, the link between the Rey Juan Carlos University, the Metamorphosis Dance company and the Department of Culture of the Alcorcón City Council was born. On Thursday, April 7, these three institutions held the "I contemporary dance workshop" at the Los Pinos de Alcorcón Cultural Center, where they brought together the students of Dance and Corporal Expression of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of the URJC .

"This event is planned in order to promote contemporary dance and bring it closer to the largest possible audience, uniting artists with students in training stages so that they can admire its beauty and contribute to promoting its development", they comment from the organization. For them, art should be used as a means to reach an educational goal, of knowledge and social awareness, and the best expression for that is to use contemporary dance.

The Workshop held in the town of Alcorcón was attended by different personalities such as Sonia López, Councilor for Culture, Participation and the Elderly of the Alcorcón City Council; Cristina Ramírez, General Coordinator of Culture of the Alcorcón City Council; Alexander Gil Arias, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the URJC; and Fernando del Villar Álvarez, Coordinator of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the URJC.

The students who attended this activity learned from the best hands thanks to Metamorphosis Dance, a contemporary dance company that has obtained up to six nominations at the XXV edition of the MAX Awards for the Performing Arts for 'CreAcción', its latest premiere. “The subject of Dance and Corporal Expression pursues the students' experience of a process of artistic creation and its representation in a theater by groups of 5 students. This is enriched by contact with the professional artistic world, in this case Metamorphosis Dance, to extrapolate many concepts, experiences and interpretation and creation techniques”.
