The URJC and MAD Fin Tech will jointly investigate economics and seniors

The Rey Juan Carlos University and the MAD Fin Tech cluster have signed a collaboration agreement through which they will carry out various joint projects.

One of the new and most active activity niches is the so-called 'Silver Economy': the adaptation of products and services to the needs of consumers over 50 years of age. In this sense, the Rey Juan Carlos University has just signed a collaboration agreement with the public-private cluster for the promotion of technological finance in Madrid, MAD Fin Tech.

The rector, Javier Ramos López, and Salvador Molina, president of MAD Fin Tech, signed the commitment between both entities. The event, held at the rectory of the Móstoles Campus, was also attended by the vice-rector for Postgraduate Studies at the URJC, Luis Cayuela; Professor Sonia de Paz, director of the university master's degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences and Luis Castillo, president of the 'Silver Economy' Commission of the Madrid Capital Fin Tech cluster.

According to Cayuela, “this agreement will allow internships in the private sphere, among other things, as well as directing research towards the demands of society and the market.

Through the Agreement, the Rey Juan Carlos University and MAD Fin Tech will carry out a research project on the 'Silver Economy' to provide solutions to a market like the Spanish one, with more than 9 million people over 65 years of age. age and with one of the highest life expectancies in the world. In addition, Spain is one of the main recipients of elderly and retired people from central, eastern and northern Europe. Mainly Germans and British.

The main researcher of this project will be Professor Sonia de Paz, director of the university master's degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences.

White book

In addition to the project, the Rey Juan Carlos University and MAD Fin Tech will collaborate in the preparation of the second edition of the 'White Paper on the Silver Economy in Spain', a multidisciplinary work on this new market niche. A population that, according to the first edition of the book, has a purchasing power 12% higher than the rest of the population. Additionally, 56% of senior consumers have the ability to save every month.

The 'Silver Economy' can open business opportunities in sectors such as tourism, smart homes, assistive technology, accessible products and services, service robotics, etc.

The agreement between the URJC and MAD Fin Tech represents the verification that the Rey Juan Carlos University strives to adapt to all the social and economic changes that are happening in order to offer the best opportunities to its students.
