The Faculty of Health Sciences also ranks fifth in terms of the average grade obtained by its students, which places it in the top group of Spanish universities in this chapter. In addition, the URJC has positioned itself as the first university in Spain in the EIR exam.

The Ministry of Health has published recently the data corresponding to the latest MIR tests (Resident Interim Medicine). They have been able to verify the good results obtained by the URJC Medicine student body. Of the students who have taken the exam, 96% have passed the cut-off mark for the test.

These results place the URJC as the eighth best in Spain in terms of the percentage of students who exceed the cut-off mark in the MIR.

If the data is analyzed in more detail, the good news continues to appear for the URJC. The students of the Faculty of Health Sciences have reached the fifth place, among a total of 40 universities, with regard to the average qualification of the MIR mark. The position of the URJC in the leading group is a constant that has been maintained since the first promotion of Physicians trained at the URJC.

For Professor Carlos Guijarro, internship coordinator for the Bachelor of Medicine, these results represent "the consolidation of a track record of exceptionally good results for URJC medicine students in a test such as the MIR, accepted by everyone as the reference in all of Spain”.

Guijarro points out two fundamental ingredients for this success, "solid basic training on campus and especially the involvement of the 4 university hospitals: Fundación Alcorcón, Fuenlabrada, HU Móstoles and Hospital Rey Juan Carlos de Móstoles". In this sense, the professor highlights the fact that “an important part of practical teaching is carried out by honorary collaborators belonging to the hospital staff”.

First in EIR

With regard to the Interim Resident Nursing exam (EIR), the URJC has been the university in Spain with the highest percentage of students who have passed the cut-off mark. In terms of average grade, the university is ranked tenth, out of a total of 60 Spanish universities, which makes it position itself as the first in the Community of Madrid.

The excellent results in the MIR and the EIR are a reflection of the work carried out by the coordinators of the FCS Medicine and Nursing degrees, professors Teresa Fernández Agulló and María Gema Cid Expósito, respectively.
