The members of the URJC women's futsal team arrived in Poland a few hours ago. In that country, specifically in the city of Lodz, they will play the European Women's Futsal University Championship.

The championship is organized by the 'European University Sports Association' and takes place within the framework of the 'European University Games'. The competition will take place between July 16 and 23

This Thursday, before leaving for Poland, the team, made up of students from all campuses and all areas of knowledge, was received at the Rector's Office by the Vice-Rector for University Extension, Mercedes del Hoyo. The coach, Alfonso Catalina, stated that they have expectations of “getting a medal”. From the vice-chancellor's office, the girls were told to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

The deputy vice-rector for Sports, Alexander Gil Arias, has emphasized that "the URJC is the first Madrid university to win, consecutively, the Madrid (2019) championship, the Spanish championship (2019) and the passport for the championship. of Europe".

Every day all the members of the team demonstrate a spirit of improvement, excellence, tenacity and determination. The players combine great academic performance with very good sporting results. The captain of the team, María Sanz, has just won the Women's European Futsal Championship together with the Spanish team.

The fact that the URJC represents Spain in this championship is a confirmation of the fruits of “the strong and determined commitment we make to university sports as an activity that complements academic life”, says Alexander Gil.

Now, what the URJC Futsal girls have ahead of them are several days of competition in an experience that will surely be unforgettable for the team. Who knows, if, in addition, they will bring a metal to Madrid. The coach promised to return in 14 days, so the team believes in it.
