A step forward for climate awareness

The Móstoles Campus hosts today, Thursday, September 29, a talk-dialogue on climate awareness, organized by the Association Ecotopia. With the slogan 'The engine for change', the platform appeals to students who are most sensitive to the subject and proposes a meeting to discover how to fight against the climate, ecological and social crisis.  

The talk will have two shifts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, which can be chosen at the registration form. The event is open to the entire university community and 0,1 credits will be awarded to attendees.  

On this occasion, Ecotopía has the collaboration of Xtinction Rebellion y Scientists' Rebellion, two online platforms that promote climate activism to influence governments and environmental policies. Its way of acting is non-violent resistance and its objectives are to minimize mass extinction and global warming.  

According to the secretary of the Association, Rubén Cid, “the talk will focus on what is known about climate change from scientific research, citing sources such as the IPPC, since we believe it is important to teach how to be informed. Later, political measures will be proposed to protect biodiversity, such as the implementation of CO2-free energies. Our vision is to transmit the values ​​of science and scientific protest regarding climate change”.  

The objective of the meeting is to share reflections and give answers to the challenge of climate change. To do this, the talk will feature a presentation by Víctor Santos Herranz, environmentalologist and member of Xtinction Rebellion. 

On behalf of all the members of the Association, Cid encouraged "students, teachers and any other person who wishes to be informed or contribute to the fight against climate change" to attend the event.
