Through presentations by specialists, round tables and discussion forums, the second edition of "Pozos de Pasión" will be held, a seminar that will address four of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): health and well-being, quality education , gender equality, and clean water and sanitation.

"Passion Wells" is an outreach and awareness project built around a light novel. This fiction, by the hand of Sara Sanz (who appears in the photograph of the news), raises numerous topics for reflection on prejudices, ideals and stereotypes in various cultural, social, ethical and moral fields.

The plot is carried out by a postdoctoral researcher, Sara Sanz, from Madrid from the popular neighborhood of Usera and graduated in Biology from the URJC. This twenty-year-old finds herself involved in an international project to promote women's reproductive and sexual health due to the sudden abandonment of another researcher. This project forces her to rush to a small country on the Arabian Peninsula, where she operates a UN peacekeeping mission, to work under the umbrella of a French blue helmet military unit. An environment distorted by the exceptionality of militarization, cultural shock and gender inequality, pushes the naive protagonist to place herself in positions committed to human rights, even at risk to her physical integrity.

In each session, the organizers will present topics of scientific or socio-health interest mentioned in the novel and will propose open questions for reflection. Likewise, specialists in different subjects will be interviewed or invited to give micro-lectures that enrich the dialogue. Each session will last 120 min and can be followed online through the Teams platform to facilitate participation in the Seminar.

“It occurred to us that Sara Sanz's novel could be a very powerful tool for disseminating issues related to women's health in the university environment. In our first meeting in the lack of sources of reliable and truthful information in our environment. In particular, issues related to reproductive and sexual health are full of taboos, false beliefs and prejudices. So, in a couple of meetings, we devised this hybrid model between the joint reading of a light novel of action and romance, and some scientific seminars” explains the director of the “Pozos de Pasión” activity, Myriam Catalá Rodríguez.
