The Office of the Vice President for Teacher Training and Teaching Innovation has created the Innovative Teachers Network. This initiative arises from the URJC's commitment to the implementation of active and innovative methodologies within the University's classrooms.

According to Royal Decree 822 / 2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality, the fundamental challenge that universities have to transform their forms of learning and teaching, in tune with the demands of a changing society, is established. This Royal Decree opens the door to promote and make visible a transformation in educational methodologies and allows centers to deploy a teaching innovation strategy in all the subjects of the study plan.

As stated by Antonio López Galisteo, Vice-Rector for Teacher Training and Teaching Innovation, with this Network “Rey Juan Carlos University fulfills its mission of offering the highest quality standards in the teaching it provides, training its teachers in innovative methodologies of teaching through his PDI Training Plan and implanting this type of teaching in their educational programs”.

Thus, the Innovative Teachers Network arises for various purposes. In the first place, to determine the active educational methodologies that are currently used in the URJC classrooms. Second, put teachers who currently apply them in contact with those who wish to do so.

Regarding this point, "there are two types of participation to connect teachers: innovative teachers who advise teachers who want to apply the innovative methodology in private meetings and the innovative teacher who allows another teacher to attend his class, so that observe how the innovative methodology is implemented in the classroom”, says Galisteo.

Finally, the third purpose of the Network will be to create a knowledge base on how to apply active methodologies in the classroom. This will be created thanks to the videos recorded by the teachers and shared through the Microsoft Stream institutional platform.

In order to fulfill these purposes, which will allow promoting the relationship and training of teachers, the Vice-Rector's Office disseminated a survey among the university's professors, which has allowed the creation of the Network thanks to the responses obtained.

The objective, according to Galisteo, is "to carry out a conference on innovative teaching methodologies in the different campuses of the University during the second semester of the academic year 2022/23".
