The URJC organizes a conversation between two experts on European issues: Antonio Gutiérrez Limones, president of the Spanish Delegation to the Council of Europe, and Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, former vice president of the European Parliament.

On Thursday, October 27 (19:25 p.m., Quintana headquarters assembly hall), the Rey Juan Carlos University will host a new session of the `Dialogues XNUMX' series, this time focused on the future of europe.

The guests in this new conversation will be two experts on European issues, Antonio Gutiérrez Limones, president of the Spanish Delegation to the Council of Europe and president of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, former vice president of the European Parliament.

Some of the topics that will be discussed will be the reform of the Treaties as a result of the Conference on the Future of Europe, the energy crisis, or security and defense, values ​​and democracy, among others.

Antonio Gutiérrez Limones, has a degree in Law from the University of Seville, a Master's in Local Development from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Seville and in Business Administration from IESE. He was a deputy in the Senate in the IX, X and XIII legislatures. In the Congress of Deputies he has been a deputy for Seville in the XI Legislature and spokesman for Ibero-America, and in the XII Legislature he has been spokesman for the Joint Commission for the European Union and Deputy Spokesman for the Industry Commission.

Ramon Luis Valcárcel, has been president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia from 1995 to 2014, president of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union from 2012 to 2014 and vice president of the European Parliament, in which he was a deputy for Spain, forming part of the Popular Party, between 2014 and 2019. He has a degree in Philosophy and Letters from the UMU and has worked as a professor of Art History at the Ruiz Mendoza school in that same city.

“With this act on the panorama of the future of Europe, the aim is to promote the involvement of the University in the issues that most concern the entire university community and contribute to greater European integration, something that has already been made clear with the participation in the EULIST university alliance”, they explain from the 25th Anniversary Commission.

The dialogue will be presented and moderated by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Relations, Ángeles Cano Linares.

On the occasion of its 25th Anniversary, the Rey Juan Carlos University, through the Commission created for this purpose, has scheduled a series of meetings with experts on different current issues under the name 'Dialogues 25'. With this initiative, it wants to offer the university community new approaches and points of view on current issues that concern society.

So far, topics such as the transformation of the prostitution business and changes in the labor reform have been addressed.

The objective of these dialogues is to open the doors of the University to citizens, through dialogue and conversation with them, and to speak openly about the challenges and crossroads that arise such as security, migration, health, the energy crisis , the economy and the defense of freedom and democracy among others.
