On November 3, the II Equality Plan of the URJC on the Madrid campus. The act was chaired by the rector Javier Ramos and coincided with the presentation of the White Paper on Gender Equality in the Company, which has been carried out in collaboration with Universitas XXI.

This new Plan has been defined based on the requirements of the regulations RD 901 / 2020 y RD 902 / 2020 and, according to Rosa Rodríguez, director of the Equality Unit of the URJC, "the project has involved a notable effort of adaptation, taking into account that this legislation is not adapted to the singularities of public bodies."

The most important points of the letter, as Rodríguez comments, are "the firm institutional commitment that serves as a starting point to ensure the integration of equality policies in the development of university activity, the diagnosis of the situation that reveals the aspects and gaps susceptible to improvement and the definition of axes, objectives and actions developed based on consensus within the Negotiating Commission”.

According to the Vice-rector for Quality and Strategy Andrés Martínez, this Plan "is intended to be an opportunity for modernization and improvement in teaching, research and management, a plan that seeks equity by eliminating possible salary gaps, that fights against sexual harassment (or for reason of sex) and in general against gender-based violence”.

In order to carry out all the points included in the II Equality Plan, "the active participation of the positions and the people responsible for each of the actions, the Monitoring Commission and the Equality Unit will be necessary, but also the commitment of the entire university community”, explains Rosa Rodríguez.

Lastly, the director of the Equality Unit of the URJC wanted to recall what an equality plan is; “an ordered set of measures, adopted after carrying out a diagnosis of the situation, aimed at achieving equal treatment and opportunities between women and men”.
