According to the latest edition of the 'Greenmetric' ranking, Rey Juan Carlos University is among the 125 in the world that most respect the environment.

Rey Juan Carlos University has improved its overall score, going from a total of 8025 points compared to 7850 in 2021. This result allows it to position itself as the sixth most sustainable university in Spain. Worldwide, the URJC is ranked as the 125th university in sustainability issues according to the 'Greenmetric' sustainability ranking.

First university in 'Education' and 'Waste Management'

The report also points out that, in the Education section of the ranking, the URJC wins first place among Spanish universities. This section refers to initiatives dedicated to promoting the teaching and learning of aspects related to sustainability. The Rey Juan Carlos University has achieved a total of 1.725 ​​points, 95% of the possible score.

The URJC is also ranked first (tied with the UCM) in the heading dedicated to 'Waste Management', dedicated to the existing procedures for collecting, storing and eliminating the waste generated on the different campuses. In this section, the URJC has obtained 100% of the possible points (1.800).

As Diana Benito, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategy, points out, "we have obtained first place at the national level in the fields of 'education' and 'waste management', we are deeply proud of this position and, in particular, of the work of the Green Office and of the Energy Efficiency Unit". More specifically regarding the Waste Management chapter, Benito indicates that "not only would he value this first position in the ranking at the national level, but also the excellent evaluation in all measurement indicators in this area The deputy vice-chancellor also points out that "this position is very good news for the entire university community and is a huge boost to continue working, together, for sustainability".

Likewise, the Rey Juan Carlos University is also among the top ten universities in our country in the sections related to transport (7th position) and water resources management (8th position).

On the Madrid podium

Thanks to these results, in addition to the good results at the national and international levels, the Rey Juan Carlos University enters the podium of the most sustainable Madrid universities, winning third place.
