Participants in the course come from various grades with a primary presence of women. "The students have been very committed and involved," said Irene Cantalejo, Head of University Social Responsibility, belonging to the Vice-Rectorate for Quality and Strategy.

The course has passed over 3 days and, through it, teachers and specialists from the URJC, staff from the Community of Madrid and members of several national and international volunteer NGOs have passed.

Thus, the students have been able to learn first-hand the basic notions of this subject, as well as the existing resources in the Community of Madrid network. In addition, through the NGOs, they have been able to learn, in the voices of their protagonists, some experiences inside and outside Spain.

The Volunteer Training Course has been organized by the Development Cooperation and Volunteer Unit, directed by Maribel Ángel, in collaboration with the Community of Madrid Volunteer School.

The activity has had the presence of some collaborating entities such as the NGO Ongawa, as well as the professors Ana Muñoz and Pedro Moncada who have exposed to the participants the projects that are carried out, both nationally and internationally.

So now what?

For those who want to continue delving into volunteer work, the URJC has "several agreements with different NGOs, in addition, shortly, we will make a new call for the international volunteer program", explains Irene Cantalejo who adds that "students who participate in They come back delighted with these experiences, and it is also a way of expanding their professional CV at a time when universities are trying to promote a type of complementary CV”.

In addition, the URJC is encouraging the students' TFG/TFM to be oriented towards contributing to the fulfillment of the different Sustainable Development Goals "through prizes and recognitions", adds Cantalejo.

A way to add experiences and skills, increasingly in demand by companies, to the curriculum and profile of the student body.
