During his speech at this talk, the rector of the URJC pointed out that, although it is difficult for young people to find their first job, this is not so apparent among those who go through the university "may not be in the job that best suits them like it, but we don't have a problem of serious structural unemployment among the people who have gone through the university”, indicated Javier Ramos.

The rector has also referred to the role of the University in relation to the world of work and has stated that "although it does not have to be an employment orientation, it does have to generate knowledge and training close to the current and future needs of the sector productive". In this sense, he has pointed out that "it is good for everyone" that students carry out part of the last years of training, in companies.

Javier Ramos has criticized the Scholarship Statute project that is currently being debated between the Government, unions and employers, pointing out that "demonizing practices is a mistake" and added that "it is necessary to monitor and regulate so that the scholarships are not used evil".

Continuous training without leaving the labor market

The rector has picked up an idea proposed by his interlocutor, the president of the CEOE and former minister of labor in one of the governments of Mariano Rajoy, Fátima Báñez, about the creation of 'nanogrados', training cycles for workers without having to leave of the labor market.

Ramos mentioned the 'microcredentials' initiative, a form of training accessible to workers through small courses of 60, 80 or 120 euros in the most varied disciplines and subjects. The 'microcredentials' are a recommendation of the European Union and Member States have until January 1, 2024 to start implementing them.

'The Happiness Industry' is a series of debates organized by the HOTUSA group through which it is intended to reflect and contribute new ideas about the tourism sector. This initiative began in September 2022 and has had the participation of important businessmen in the sector and former ministers from different governments.
