Today and tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th of March, the II Edition of the Conference on Video Clips of the Rey Juan Carlos University is celebrated.
The meeting place is the Madrid campus and the event lasts all morning. For those who cannot attend, the event can be followed both in person and via streaming through the conference website.
According to the director of the initiative, Héctor Canorea, "this event is intended to bring students closer to the genre of the video clip that, although we all know and consume, continues to be the great unknown."
Although platforms such as YouTube show that "it is probably the genre that is most consumed," continues Canorea, "many times the video clip is seen as something small or secondary, and when Audiovisual Communication students start their studies, they think about making movies or series . Few or none consider that the video clip can be a job opportunity.
As a doctoral student at the Rey Juan Carlos University, Héctor Canorea has observed how music is becoming more and more audiovisual. In addition, "it is a good time to analyze the music scene in Spanish, with the rise of artists like Rosalía or C. Tangana," he points out.
During the Conference, several professionals will address key concepts to start in the video clip industry, as well as discuss aesthetic issues and technical aspects of production. In addition, some time will be dedicated to discuss the financing of the projects and there will be networking sessions in which the students will be able to discuss their projects first-hand with the speakers.
In the last edition, experts such as José María Barbat, President of Sony Music Iberia or Sara Gozalo, who works in the music area of YouTube and video clip directors who have worked with artists such as Jennifer López, Alejandro Sanz, Melendi or Aitana participated.
On this occasion, will be present, among other professionals, Luis A. Ángeles, Video Commissioner of Sony Music Spain; Kiko Fuentes, former director of Warner Music Spain or Carlos Galán, founder of Subterfuge Records, one of the most important independent labels in Spain. All of them have worked with renowned artists such as Nathy Peluso, Estopa or Fito and Fitipaldis.
After the success of the first days, its director, Héctor Canorea, hopes that this edition will be the same and that the event will become "a tradition, and be synonymous with the URJC brand." Participation in the activity has a recognition of 0,5 credits for attendees.
