The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation organizes the III International Congress 'Relations between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe: images and visions on both shores'.

The event covers today and tomorrow, March 21 and 22, and takes place in mixed mode, having Guadalupe, Cáceres as its face-to-face venue.

This Congress is carried out with the collaboration of the URJC Latin American Studies Research Center (CEIB) and the University of Extremadura. In addition, it is sponsored by the Guadalupe City Council and the Franciscan Community of the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe.

According to the CEIB management, the main objective of the Congress is to continue deepening the interaction that has been taking place between America and Europe over the centuries.

One of the key points that this event intends to promote is to prioritize research that studies this relationship, which has configured a historical reality in both spaces. The legacy of this interaction is a cultural and material heritage that, on many occasions, is common. To exemplify this, the speakers at the congress will deal with concepts such as democracy, diplomatic relations or security, as well as other cultural issues.

Another important aspect emphasized by the Congress is the importance of continuing to advance in studies on migratory flows between America, Extremadura and Europe. The fundamental thing, they point out from the CIEB-URJC, is to increase the debate between the two regions, highlighting the participation of young researchers in the fields of International Relations and the History of Latin America.

In this sense, the director of the Congress and the CIEB-URJC, Cástor Díaz, remarks that "this year's intention is to understand the issue of perception, how we see each other and how we look at each other". For this reason, he continues, "we have two important round tables; the first, has Latin American and European diplomats, with ambassadors from various countries. The second has journalists from both territories to see how the realities are shown on one side and on the other. through the media."

At the same time, Díaz points out "the interdisciplinary nature of the Congress, since it not only addresses the perspective of International Relations but also does so from History, specifically reviewing that of Latin America."
