The Rey Juan Carlos University has celebrated today, Thursday June 8, the solemn act of investiture of new doctors, belonging to the programs in Sciences, Health Sciences and Engineering and Architecture.

The event was inaugurated by the rector, Javier Ramos, who gave the floor to Pilar Abad, as director of the International Doctoral School (EID). After pronouncing the laudatio of the new doctors, Abad wished that the investigative spirit “always accompany you and continue this old intellectual journey”. “Keep researching and learning, challenge the limits of knowledge and find creative solutions to the challenges facing our society today”, she added.

According to the director of the EID, during the 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years, 399 theses were defended in the 12 doctoral programs offered by the URJC. Of this total, 68 did so with mention of an international doctorate and 7 of an industrial doctorate. These numbers, says Abad, "continue to grow thanks to you and the rest of the university community."

To end his speech, Abad pointed out how difficult it is to trust, at this time, in the future. However, "the new generations of well-trained professionals who will join social institutions, bringing new life and hope, are the ones who are going to restore trust in society," says Abad.

Next, the general secretary of the URJC, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, called the 95 doctors present to receive their medal and be sworn in. The event was also attended by the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín.

The rector, Javier Ramos, wanted to highlight "the effort and personal commitment that research requires, as well as professional concern and generosity, when sharing this knowledge with society." This intellectual restlessness, added Ramos, "is the human capacity that makes us compete with ourselves, to improve ourselves and reach the highest levels".

Finally, the rector of the URJC has highlighted the great commitment that the doctors have acquired by investing themselves as such, "hence the promise or oath, to contribute that excellence in knowledge and put it at the service of society."
