The symposium, on the official residences and places of recreation of the Spanish Royal Family since the time of the Austrians, has been organized by Félix Labrador, professor of Modern History, Magdalena Merlos and Ignacio J. Esquerra Revilla, professors at the URJC, and will open its doors at 09:45. The opening presentation will be given by M.ª Teresa Fernández Talaya, professor and Numerary Member of the Institute of Madrid Studies.

Stereotypes to break

The purpose of the seminar is to put an end to the ideas that have traditionally predominated about the conception of the Royal Sites, since as the academic secretary of the event has stated: “The objective of this congress is to break with the stereotype that the Royal Sites seemed have only idle use. The “Cinter” group of researchers proposes that real sites be perceived as spaces that help configure the sociopolitical system and the embodiment of the ideal of power.” Jorge Pajarín adds that: “The subject will be approached from different disciplines such as history, art history, geography and architecture, among others.”

To carry out this dissemination work, the event will have representation from National Heritage, as well as teachers from different universities such as the Rey Juan Carlos University, the University of Alcalá de Henares and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Registrations

The assistance to congress It will be hybrid, since when registering you have the option to attend in person or online, via Teams. In addition, all URJC students who attend all sessions will receive 0,45 ECTS credits for the RAC.
