Relations between Europe and Asia, under debate

The vice-rector for Continuing Education, Mª Lourdes Meléndez, with this congress aims to encourage attendees to use science, education and culture as a weapon of social integration and multicultural understanding.

The director of the course and professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University, Raúl Ramírez Ruíz, highlights the importance of hosting this seminar for the URJC by stating that: “For the university it is a very important step since organizing this event means that it has been favorably evaluated by the Eurasian Foundation, which financed the symposium, has valued the teaching and research quality of the URJC. This is a very significant recognition, since only 8 Spanish universities have achieved this distinction.” Professor Ramírez does not forget the benefits that the symposium will have for the students and adds: “The students will have access to international experts, which, if it were not for attending this congress, would not be possible.”

International dimension

Eurasian Foundation It is committed to the training of future transnational leaders, to this end, it sponsors events around the world so that young people get to know Asia and have the possibility of resolving conflicts through dialogue.

Collaboration between universities has also been fundamental to enrich this seminar, since professors from different universities will participate in the meeting. Among the teachers, there are URJC personnel such as Felipe Debasa, director of the official Master's degree in the European Union and China. At the international level, researchers such as Abdoul Sam, professor of Applied Economics at the University of Ohio, and Jan Sýkora, professor at Charles University in Prague, will participate.

The registration process closed on October 2 and as the director states, “it has been an absolute success, since around ninety students have enrolled who we hope will continue to maintain interest throughout the term.”

The course will take place between October 6 and January 26, 2024, with a total of 36 face-to-face hours that will be distributed on various afternoons between 18:00 p.m. and 20:00 p.m.
