A cooperation project between the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Jaime Isaza Cadavid Colombian Polytechnic, in Medellín, allows the improvement of engineering technological tools in the Colombian institution.

The initiative was carried out at the beginning of the course and, as explained by José María Cañas, professor of the Degree in Software Robotics Engineering and responsible for the project at the URJC, “it has made it possible to equip the Colombian Polytechnic with computers and robots, in addition to putting into practice The unibotics platform is underway, used there until now with simulated robots and, now and thanks to Rey Juan Carlos, with real robots.”

In addition to these provisions, the URJC teacher taught two courses of 20 students. The collaboration has been possible thanks to the company JDE Robot and the professor of the Mechatronics subject at the Colombian institution, Nelson Muñoz Ceballos.

According to José María Cañas, “both teachers and students have appreciated the course. The training was voluntary and enrollment was filled.”

The next steps of the project are to take the platform to the Jaume I University, in Castellón. For its part and also with the participation of the URJC, the platform has already begun to operate at the Complutense University of Madrid.

An initiative that helps expand robotics beyond the university, helping whoever needs it to work with the same robot programming tool that is used at the URJC.
