The URJC launches a massive course against misinformation

“Misinformation and disinformation are a growing problem that affects citizens, institutions and the general functioning of society” is one of the mottos of this new “Massive Open Online Course” (MOOC), created with the collaboration of the National Intelligence Agency “Mihai Viteazul” of Romania, the Cyberimaginary Research Group of the URJC, the University of Malta and the New Strategic Center of Romania.

The duration stipulated for the course is 25 hours and each student can do it at their own pace throughout the academic year, being divided into 6 blocks, it covers everything from the current characteristics of the information system to the specific tools to detect misinformation depending on the context. . 

“The course is aimed both at students who want to learn more about the phenomenon of disinformation, and at teachers who want to understand the idea that a basic factor in the fight against disinformation is commitment to the cause,” explains Manuel Gertrudix, coordinator of the Ciberimaginario research group. This is a project that seeks to have an international scope and surpass the mark of 22 nationalities of CRESCENT, a previous project carried out under the same theme and which was awarded by the UN.

This project begins on November 13 and the registration period remains open throughout the course, and you can register on the website urjcx, and students belonging to the URJC may validate the course hours for Academic Credit Recognition credits.
