The URJC holds a paddle tennis tournament against breast cancer

This initiative, carried out by the URJC Sports service, has other previous editions in which solidarity actions have been carried out in the same way, such as collecting toys for the hospitals of Móstoles, Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada.

In this VI edition, the registration fee will go entirely to the Group GEICAM. This association is the leading group in breast cancer research in Spain, currently made up of approximately 900 experts, who work in 200 centers nationwide. Among its main objectives is to promote research to provide information to those affected about treatments and their side effects.

The Tournament, which will have a single category in which all participants will compete, is aimed at the entire university community. In addition, external athletes who do not belong to the university may also participate.

The event will be held in two stages, the first being a group stage and later the qualified couples will have the opportunity to compete in a final cycle. For the group stage, teams can select several preferred game days on the form.

The winners of this edition will obtain prizes such as physiotherapy vouchers thanks to the collaboration of the URJC University Clinic.

The registration fee is 15 euros per couple. The payment method is Bizum, using the 'Donation' option and including the code 33431 or by writing GEICAM. This route is also open for those people who are not going to participate in the tournament.

The registration procedure will consist of completing a form which will be open until Thursday, November 9 at 15:00 p.m. Regarding participation in the tournament, the Deputy Vice-Rector for Sports, Alexander Gil, is optimistic, "last edition around 50 couples signed up and this year we hope to surpass that magnificent attendance."
