Although the benefits of sport on people's health are more than proven, the positive return from the point of view of the economy and public policies is something more unknown.
With the aim of analyzing these concepts, the URJC and Europe Active have brought together the world's leading experts in the field. As Professor Alfonso Jiménez, professor in the Area of Physical Education and Sports and director of the Sports Sciences Research Center, points out, “it is an event that tries to highlight and identify the role that physical activity plays in health.”
Jiménez has also valued the quality of the speakers, “we have great specialists in fields such as the relationship between sport and health and the economic and social returns of physical activity, such as Harvard professor I-Min Lee, professor from the University of Sydney, Melody Ding and Larissa Davies, professor at Sheffield Hallam University.” In addition, professors Gary Liguori, from Rhode Island University, and Robert Copeland from Sheffield Hallam University, among other national and international experts, will also participate in the meeting.
The event brings together more than 150 “leaders in their different fields (public policies, sports industry, physical activity research, etc.),” according to Alfonso Jiménez, and is developed with the objective of learning about and sharing experiences related to the benefits economic, social and health benefits of sports practice, create synergies between different actors and seek innovative ways to promote an active life among the European population.
The event takes place at the Meliá Castilla Hotel in Madrid from 09:00 in the morning.
