The conference, organized by the Observatory for the Analysis and Visibility of Social Exclusion, the Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, and the diversity unit, with the collaboration of the Vice-Rectorate of International Relations, seeks to analyze how Prolonged and intense conflicts alter the biosphere in which people live. Dr. Abu-Sittah, a surgeon and professor, will share his experiences in Gaza hospitals and show how the Israeli war has turned the Gaza Strip into an "ecology of war" that will continue to harm its inhabitants after the war ends.
Abu-Sittah, of Palestinian origin and Professor of Surgery at the University of Glasgow, has worked as a war surgeon in several conflicts and has published several works on the health consequences of persistent conflicts and war injuries. His experience in Gaza, where he spent 43 days caring for victims of the Israeli bombing, is particularly relevant to understanding the current health situation in the Strip.
The conference is part of the University Network for Palestine and can be followed on May 31 at 18:00 p.m. in the Degree Hall, Departmental I, on the Fuenlabrada Campus. This is a simultaneous broadcast that will be followed by more than twenty state universities, including the University of Valencia, host of the broadcast.
