Rosa Marquez of the Order

The Rey Juan Carlos University, in collaboration with the Fuenlabrada City Council, dedicates one of its Summer Courses to design and creation of urban furniture. Participants will be able to work on the ideation, development and construction of ten full-scale models. The two best prototypes will be integrated into the Poniente and Huerto del Cura squares.

The main objective of the 'PlaYiNN' project is to promote the participation of youth in the processes of diagnosis, ideation, design and implementation of urban policies for public spaces. The course is aligned with the values of the New European Bauhaus, which seeks to promote environmental sustainability, the circular economy and the creation of more inclusive cities.

Fuenlabrada obtained second position in the candidacy for the European Youth Capital in 2022 and continues to stand out for its commitment to young people, who represent 12% of its total population. The PlaYiNN project is part of the municipal strategy "Fuenlabrada 2030", which addresses challenges such as regenerative culture, social cohesion and democratic quality.

Collaboration with Basurama

The Basurama collective, founded in 2001 and dedicated to research into production processes and mass consumption, joins this project, contributing its experience with the regeneration of waste and the reuse of discarded materials to create new objects and spaces.

The seminar, of a fundamentally practical nature, will be of special interest to students of Fine Arts, Architecture, Design and Landscaping, but any young person or adolescent from Fuenlabrada who is interested in these topics and who is studying high school or some professional training can participate in it. . The course is free and is recognized with 1,20 ECTS credits.
