In a hyperconnected world increasingly dependent on computer networks, security is basic, both for users and for technology companies, which require qualified professionals in this field. The summer course 'The world of cybersecurity: A challenge in constant evolution' It aims to be a meeting point between academics and professionals in the sector with the aim of seeking joint solutions. “In the area of Applied Mathematics we have a group of researchers who have been designing theoretical models related to cybersecurity for many years and it is important for us to work side by side with the people, companies and institutions that face these problems daily,” he explains. Regino Criado, professor at the URJC and director of the course. Another objective is to attract young talents who want to dedicate themselves professionally to fighting cybercrime because, as Criado recalls, one of the conclusions of the course is that “cybercriminals are far ahead of us, hence the need for constant updating of those who They work to combat cybercrime.”
Throughout the four days into which the seminar is divided, there will be presentations and round tables that will address topics such as the use of artificial intelligence or the functions of the pentester to guarantee the protection of computer systems and applications through attack simulation. According to Sergio Iglesias, secretary of the course, “the idea is to unite the research part of the DCNC with practical reality, hence the participation as speakers of professionals who have been working in the field of security for more than twenty years, such as Borja Roux, experts from companies such as Microsoft or José de la Peña, the director of SIC magazine, the most important in the sector.”
This course is part of the agreement between the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) and URJC titled Cyber Fitness Strategic Project. Anomaly detection and analysis of cybersecurity patterns in complex structures included in the Strategic Projects in Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with the financing of the Funds Next Generation-EU.
