A total of 20 entrepreneurial projects ranging from a platform to connect and help pre-university students to providing Artificial Intelligence solutions for patients with chronic pain, through a proposal for affordable 'healthy fast-food' among many others, have been presented today at the Móstoles Campus.
These ideas, incubated within the framework of the 2024 edition of Explorer URJC, an initiative promoted by the URJC, Santander and the Móstoles City Council.
At the closing of the project presentation event, the rector, Javier Ramos, pointed out that today “the magnificent results of a successful program have been presented, which it is, due to the pillars that underpin it: public-private collaboration, cooperation between administrations, practical preparation for entrepreneurship and, finally, internationalization.”
A program that, in its 2024 edition at the URJC, has incubated a total of 21 projects over 12 weeks with the help of mentors from the Rey Juan Carlos University and professionals from the Móstoles Business Incubator, managed by the URJC.
“The 21 projects have made notable progress in their viability, and their young promoters have improved outstandingly. But the good data doesn't stop there. The good performance of these 21 business ideas has allowed the Business Incubator to achieve first place nationally and third worldwide in the program's Global ranking, surpassing more than 250 institutions."
The rector also took advantage of his speech to congratulate Miguel Ángel Avilés and David Lietor, whose project 'LightU' has been selected as one of the international winners of the program. The idea, according to those responsible, “will offer technological solutions to the obvious problems derived from the academic disorientation that pre-university students suffer at the moment of decision-making regarding the choice of the path that will mark their future. It is about developing a collaborative platform that will connect the student community with each other, being informed and accompanied in a personalized way during this process thanks to AI and through feedback, experiences and the platform's own resources."
“You belong to a world that is already moving towards a new era; you have vision; and you have great ideas. You have the enthusiasm, the enthusiasm, the desire necessary to bring the project you embark on to fruition,” Ramos told the entrepreneurs.
The event included the interventions of the Mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, José María García de los Ríos, director of Agreements and Patronage of Santander Universities and Francisco Blanco, Entrepreneurship coordinator of the URJC.
In addition to them, the event was attended by Fernando García Muiña, vice-rector for Research, Innovation and Transfer, Sonsoles Manotas, vice-manager of Research and Innovation and Pablo Ramírez, director of the Móstoles Business Incubator.
