The first scientific outreach event of the 2024-2025 academic year takes place this Friday, September 27, at the URJC Fuenlabrada Campus. This year, the fifteenth European Researchers' Night in Madrid is hosted by the Fuenlabrada School of Engineering, which, in collaboration with the UCC+I, has organized a complete program of activitiesUnder the motto “Engineering, the application of science”, the different lines of research will be shown in areas such as telecommunications, aerospace, biomedical or robotics engineering, data science and engineering, architecture, urban planning and landscaping.

During the event, which will take place between 10:00 and 20:00, around fifty researchers will hold workshops and visit their laboratories to show techniques for modelling nuclear cellular processes with Artificial Intelligence (AI), the measurement of cardiac electrical images in real time or the development of self-guided robots indoors and outdoors. Visitors will also be able to access the satellite docking laboratory in orbit and learn how extended reality is applied to the visualisation of communications networks.

The official opening will be at 16:30 p.m. in the outdoor tent installed in front of Lecture Hall III of the Fuenlabrada Campus. The event will be enlivened by the Sante Duo of flute and guitar.

European project for scientific dissemination

The European Researchers' Night is a pan-European event promoted by the European Union to bring science closer to society and to increase young people's interest in science. Activities are held simultaneously in 23 countries and more than 400 cities across Europe and beyond.

The Rey Juan Carlos University is part of the consortium NIGHTMADRID, coordinated by the Fundación para el conocimiento madri+d and funded by the European Union within Horizon Europe, the EU Research and Innovation Programme, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (with grant agreement number 101.162.110).

The activities of the URJC are coordinated by the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer and are organized by the UCC+I and the EIF. In addition, the event has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, through the Call for aid to promote scientific, technological and innovation culture 2023.
