The relationship between minors and social networks is part of many of the daily conversations that take place today between families, schools and society in general. The University, with the aim of continuing to shed light on these issues, is holding an International Congress (Degree Hall, Fuenlabrada Campus) where the latest research on phenomena such as bullying and self-harm and their relationship with social media can be learned about.

According to the professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and one of the organizers of the conference, "we want to continue along the lines of analysis from previous years, and see how digital groups are being created on social networks related to self-harm, bullying or pornography that the platforms themselves are trying to control, but these measures are not effective."

In order to address all perspectives, the organization has invited institutional representatives: from the Ministry of Health, from Injuve or from Incibe (a state association related to cybersecurity).

In addition, researchers from various disciplines will present their latest findings in this field, there will also be a panel with journalists and health communicators and another forum will bring together representatives of social platforms.

The organisation would like to highlight two talks: that of Luis Fernando López, Co-director of ISNISS, General Health Psychologist, Adult/Adolescent Psychotherapist and Trainer, on 'Vulnerability, Youth and Mental Health'.

On the other hand, the presentation by Sandra Sanmartin Feijóo, Postdoctoral researcher (University of Galway and University of Antwerp) also stands out.

The Congress was opened this morning by the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Transfer, Fernando García Muiña, and the Director of the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, Rainer Rubira García.
