Digital transformation through Artificial Intelligence has a strategic value, which is why AI month has been launched at the Rey Juan Carlos University within the framework of Power U, the Plan for Transformation and Empowerment through Artificial Intelligence.
So far, two training sessions have taken place, with 600 registrations for each one. One of the sessions has focused on Copilot and the other on Teams. The first, on Copilot (Microsoft's AI assistant), has allowed, as explained by Luisa Reyes, academic director of Artificial Intelligence and Process Optimization, "to provide information on access to Copilot in the secure environment, to explore what Copilot allows and will allow me to do in the context of my professional practice and in the development of PowerU actions. And to prepare attendees to begin the training itineraries of the Plan."
The second webinar, focused on Teams, has served to “show a different way of working through collaborative tools such as Planner, List, Forms, Poll, Onenote, Presentation AI, Viva Learning and Loop. And to show how with Workflow we can automate tasks using all the previous tools so that we can focus on those tasks that add value in our day-to-day work,” says the academic director.
The initiative is being very well received, with 450 participants registered for one hour of webinar. According to Reyes, “this is truly a success, because it is a real indicator of the importance of the event for the attendees. We knew that the community was eager to see what PowerU was all about.”
Next up are two new webinars. One on the 17th, on AI and data, which will also open up many possibilities for obtaining better performance, visibility or data processing with AI and automation valid for the work of all groups. Luisa Reyes has also highlighted the “extension of the AI month to the last Thursday of the month as a result of the interest of the groups and the proposals for collaboration from external entities. With a change of format since the 31st will be in person and with the participation of companies.”
Activities continue in November
In November, the 'IndesIAHack' action for students will take place to solve real challenges through the application of AI. In addition, "the most important activity of all will be launched, which is the beginning of making the training itineraries of the PowerU plan available to our university. And here I would like to highlight that we have been pioneers in developing training itineraries open to the entire community and free of charge. Although we open the first courses in November, January will be the big month of training," explains Luisa Reyes.
The goal of those responsible for PowerU is that, based on the formal training of the strategy, all the actions of the empowerment plan for the entire community can be deployed “making them participate in the transformation solutions of our university, through the creation of a community of 'makers' to which advanced resources will be provided for the design and development of more complex solutions for teaching, learning, research or administration and services”, explains Luisa Reyes.
AI month at the URJC is an initiative of the Transformation and Empowerment Plan through artificial intelligence, known as PowerU, prior to the start of training for all groups. During this month of October, every Thursday from 17 to 18 pm, a series of webinars are being held to explore and promote the use of artificial intelligence and the 365 tools that our university offers to all groups in order to awaken curiosity and expand knowledge and skills in the field of artificial intelligence in the workplace.
