The URJC School of Experimental Sciences and Technology (ESCET) hosted the event organized by the URJC Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering. This marks the first activity of the collaboration agreement between CEMOSA and the URJC, designed to strengthen talent and promote the link between the academic and professional spheres.

The event took place on Friday 25 October at the University's Móstoles campus. The conference lasted all morning, from 09:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.

According to Professor Pilar Rodrigo, coordinator of the Degree in Materials Engineering, “these sessions are especially designed for students of the Degree in Materials Engineering”. Their main objective “is to connect students with different fields of industry and research and to make them see that the knowledge acquired in the degree is fundamental in many sectors”, she adds.

The event, chaired by Professor Dolores Escalera, was opened by Alejandro Ureña Fernández, Director of ESCET, and consisted of the presentation of the ERASMUS programs by Professor Bianca Muñoz and the new Master's Degree in Advanced Materials Engineering by Professor María Sánchez. This was followed by lectures by Dr. Pilar Marín, Director of the Institute of Applied Magnetism (IMA) and Professor at the UCM, who spoke about the applications of magnetic metallic glass nanowires; Alejandro López, Sales Engineer at Timken España SL, who spoke about the manufacturing and in-service behavior of high-performance bearings.

Finally, CEMOSA was represented by its representative in Madrid, Rosario Martín, and the director of the Quality Control and Materials Department, Manuel Salas, who presented aspects related to quality control in construction materials, focusing on bituminous materials.

The closing of the Conference was the inauguration of the exhibition “Materials and their origin”, dedicated to the recently retired professor M.ª Victoria Utrilla Esteban. This exhibition, which can be visited over the next few days at the Móstoles Campus Library, is part of the teaching innovation activities carried out by the Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group on Interdisciplinary Subjects in the field of Engineering and Architecture.

This Conference is available at TV URJC.
