The ceremony of Computer Science Awards 2024 has celebrated the transformative power of the digital revolution as a driver of progress and a source of access to knowledge for all of society. The awards, granted by the SCIE-BBVA agreement, have recognized the excellence of six young scientists, the careers of three senior researchers and the work of a company that has developed applications based on natural language processing.
The BBVA Foundation They highlight that Rodríguez-Pardo has received the award “for his contributions to intelligent image processing, which have improved the realistic representation of materials, giving rise to scientific publications, patents and industrial products of great international impact.”
Carlos Rodríguez-Pardo works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Polytechnic of Milan and collaborates with the Rey Juan Carlos University on several R&D projects and believes that curiosity and the desire to constantly learn “are fundamental tools in computer science research, as well as “knowing how to communicate your results to different audiences.”
Currently, he is focused on using artificial intelligence to combat climate change. In this regard, the award winner highlights that his projects focus on the “evolution of the planet's climate as greenhouse gas emissions change, and also how climate change will influence the economy and society.”
