The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 19, at the Illustrious Official College of Physicians of Madrid. This was the nineteenth edition and a total of 39 awards were presented.
The Community of Madrid, the most awarded
The region has received the highest recognition with a total of 15 awards, including four awards won by the Jiménez Díaz Foundation University Hospital: Microbiology, Infection Control, Endocrinology and Nutrition, as well as Hematology and Hemotherapy.
Madrid also received the award for Best Primary Care Health Centre, which went to the Puerta de Madrid health centre, located in Alcalá de Henares.
Cantabria, Catalonia and the Valencian Community are next in prizes
The Cantabrian community follows Madrid with six awards, all of which have been given to the Valdecilla Hospital. It has received three honourable mentions and three awards. The recognitions it has received in this edition are: Pain Unit, Headaches, Neurology, HIV/AIDS, Infectious Diseases Service and Cardiology.
In the case of the Catalan and Valencian communities, both have obtained four awards each. In the case of Catalonia, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau has been awarded the Best Emergency Service. Valencia has been recognized with the special award for the Best Autonomous COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.
Finally, Andalusia stands out for having been recognised with three special awards. The awards obtained were: Best Hospital Management, Best Regional Strategy in One Health and Best Approach to the Social Determinants of Health in the Autonomous Communities.
