The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday. This year's edition added essay and audiovisual pieces as new categories.

The rector, Javier Ramos, presented, in the Graduation Hall of the Departmental Building I, the trophies to the winners of the cultural competitions held, once again, at the URJC and organized by the Culture service of the Vice-Rectorate of Campus Community, Culture and Sport.

These awards are the first university competition in which the works submitted have a free license for use.

The event was opened by Mercedes del Hoyo, Vice-Rector for Campus Community, Culture and Sport, who said that “these awards show the university's support for culture and highlight the creative capacity of students.”

Javier Ramos said that “this event is special because it recognizes the talent and creativity of the members of our university community.” He also highlighted the importance of universities promoting cultural activities.

This edition of the contest was entitled 'Photography and Music' and asked participants to unite these two artistic disciplines, linking their photography with a song. In this case, the first prize went to student Jaime Lujan Alarcón, for his work 'Perfume'. The award is worth 500 euros.

The second award, worth 300 euros, was given to the student Elena Vicente Valluerca, for 'The Cure - A Forest'.

Finally, the 'bronze medal' (200 euros) went to the student Sara Pacheco Palomares, for the photo 'Josélito's Bell Ringer (1956 Version)'.

Short Stories

In the case of short stories, this year the focus was on 'non-fiction' stories, asking to delve into shocking news from the press.

The first prize (endowed with 500 euros as in the Photography competition) went to the student Rodrigo García Villarrubia, for his work 'Hunting the Wolf'.

The second prize, worth 300 euros, went to the student Adriana Rodriguez Bueno, for 'Anti-birdwatchers'.

Finally, the third award, worth 200 euros, was given to the student Aya Drriji Draiji, for the story 'Live Role'.

Test

At the premiere of this contest, participants were asked to analyze the phenomenon of artificial intelligence from a humanistic point of view.

The highest award was given to the student Pablo Yannone Sancho, for 'Introduction to the powers and plunders of Artificial Intelligence from Humanism'.

The first prize went to Laura Arroyo Martínez, professor in the area of ​​Literary Theory and Comparative Literature, for her work 'Artificial Intelligence and the Human or the Danger of Reversing Humanization'.

The second prize went to the popularizer Virginia Cabrera Nocito and her essay 'Artificial intelligence and people: Alea, jacta, est?'.

Finally, the third prize went to Sarai Pazos García for “The fear of being replaced” and the fourth, to the writer Isabel González Arias and her work “The click society”.

Fine Arts

For this category the theme chosen by the jury was 'The universe of dreams'.

In this case, the first prize (500 euros) went to the professor in the area of ​​Architecture Raúl Torres Guzmán, for 'Does the metaverse dream of melancholic people?''.

The second winner (300 euros) was Jorge Hernández Redondo with his work 'Autogamy and Polygamy'.

Finally, the third prize, worth 200 euros, went to the student Manuel Vicente Mejía for “The palette of time”.

Audiovisual Pieces

The first edition of this contest was called 'Travel Shorts'. The first prize, worth 500 euros, went to Javier Benito Carro and his team, for the short film 'The Giant'Javier himself pointed out that “the culture of the university is the culture of the future.”

The second prize, worth 300 euros, went to Adi Altof Rojas, for 'Llorándole al lobo'.

Finally, the third prize, worth 200 euros, went to Sebastián Jiménez Moral and his short film 'Around the world in more than 80 photos'.
