The signing of the agreement took place yesterday Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior in Madrid. The rector, Javier Ramos and the minister, Carlos Novillo Piris signed this agreement by which the URJC and IMIDRA will collaborate on various lines of research.

The first specific area of collaboration has to do with the study of crops to improve the production of Arancitan agriculture.

At this time, researchers from the School of Experimental Sciences and Technology, in collaboration with experts from IMIDRA, are already analysing dryland herbaceous crops in Aranjuez (a town where the Rey Juan Carlos University has one of its campuses). Specifically, the study is being carried out in the area around the Casa de la Monta (a 18th century building). There, they are testing mixtures of varieties and rotations in wheat and chickpeas and analysing various indicators that allow monitoring and improvement of the harvests.

Thanks to this General Action Protocol (PGA), the two organizations will be able to carry out joint studies and research projects within the framework of Rural Development, as well as carry out various training initiatives, as well as organize conferences and seminars. This PGA is valid for 5 years.
