International Day of Women and Girls in Science

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11), the UCC+I promotes different activities in which the protagonists are the URJC researchers. The main objectives of this initiative are to make visible the role of women in Science and awaken scientific vocations among girls.

Scientists from the URJC will give various informative talks in the classrooms of educational centers with the aim of make visible the role of women in Science, show the work they do and awaken scientific vocations.

This program of activities has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. In addition, this initiative is part of the activities Researchers at Schools within the project of the European Researchers' Night (NIGHTMADRID), a consortium coordinated by the madri+d Foundation and funded by the European Union within the Horizon Europe Programme, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (with grant agreement no. 101.162.110).

"Women leaders in science" and editathon, February 11, 2025

In addition, the URJC is collaborating in the organization and participation of the round table "Women leaders in science", which will be held on February 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the UCM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. This will be followed by an editing session on Wikipedia, led by Wikimedia Spain. This editathon will be from 12:00 p.m. to 14:00 p.m.

Researchers from the URJC have visited primary and secondary schools in the Community of Madrid to offer INFORMATIVE TALKS with the aim of explaining their work and awakening possible scientific vocations.

In addition, this year in collaboration with the Equality Unit of the URJC, different awareness days have been offered on the role of women in science:

The speakers have made known their work as scientists, technologists and researchers. These conferences have been aimed at undergraduate students (RAC 0,3 ECTS), Master's and doctoral students of the URJC.

"Promotion of talent and entrepreneurship of women", Thursday, February 13, 2020.

Speakers from the STEM Talent Girl program, the Spanish Association of Women in Energy (Aemener), Women CEO and the Innovatia 8.3 project participated in this conference. During this session, aimed at master's and doctoral students, PDI and PAS, the different agreements and programs that the URJC has with these organizations in terms of promoting talent and entrepreneurship of women have been shown.

The scientific generations the 11 to 15 February 2019

More than 30 researchers from the URJC have visited primary and secondary schools in the Community of Madrid to recount their experiences and scientific achievements. The main objectives of this activity are to make visible the role of women in Science and awaken scientific vocations among girls.
