science monologues

imagemonologuesThis activity is organized by the UCC+I in collaboration with the IES Joaquín Rodrigo of Madrid (promoter of the contest since its inception), together with other institutes from the Vicálvaro district and the Madrid-West Territorial Center for Innovation and Training. This initiative has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and aims to use the monologue as an educational resource to promote the acquisition of the basic skills proposed for the curriculum of ESO and Baccalaureate students. Through this format, students learn to present their research projects and it is also hoped that they will awaken their interest in science and scientific dissemination.

The activity is carried out in several phases, a first training phase made up of workshops given by URJC teachers and scientific educators from Big Van Ciencia, Alioth arte&ciencia.. In these sessions the characteristics of the scientific monologue, its educational potential, the resources for the elaboration of the text, as well as the staging, body language or voice. The final phase of the project concludes with the staging of the monologues at the URJC Madrid Campus.

Due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the final of the contest was held in virtual format through the Youtube competition.
