From February 6 to March 5, 2024, this workshop will be held with the aim of promoting the improvement of scientific content, within the program of activities of the action "The current challenges of scientific communication through Wikipedia". Furthermore, this activity is carried out in collaboration with the Vice-Rector's Office for Teacher Training and Teaching Innovation.
User-level security workshop - February 23, 10:00 - 12:00 h.
Activity on basic concepts of computer security (devices, content, personal data and privacy in digital environments) intended for people with cognitive disabilities. The main objectives of this workshop are to acquire basic concepts of how to move safely with technologies at the level of devices, applications or social networks. In this way, the digital competence of citizens is promoted as established in the – European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp).

Management and emotional management workshop
In these workshops, practical tools will be presented to understand and channel emotions, strengthening key skills such as empathy, resilience and decision making. Participants, guided by a multidisciplinary team of experts in youth psychology and neuropsychology, will acquire guidelines to develop greater self-knowledge and learning when facing emotional challenges with confidence.

Bracelets, choose your own energy
Children's workshop aimed at students from 6 to 9 years old and held on the occasion of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (March 4, 2024) to publicize the current energy system. The main objectives have been to show the need to make a change based on the different renewable energies that allow us to care for the environment and the importance of researching the creation of infrastructures for the development of renewable energies, promoting STEM vocations (from English Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The activity ended with the making of a bracelet with the energy that they liked the most.
To mark the World Environment Day (June 5), another workshop was held on May 31.
Robotics workshop - April 12, 10:00 - 13:00 p.m.
The objectives of this activity are to acquire basic programming concepts through the programming of educational robots. This workshop is adapted to people with cognitive disabilities. In this way, the digital competence of citizens is promoted as established in the – European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp). Video game programming workshop with Scratch - May 16 and 23, 17:00 - 20:00
This activity will consist of doing a programming workshop with Scratch, a visual tool that will allow participants to create their own video game. Concepts related to computational thinking will be explained and participants' executive functions will be worked on. Users will have the opportunity to acquire basic programming concepts.
This workshop is adapted to people with cognitive disabilities and the main objectives are to acquire basic programming concepts through the creation of video games. Interactive and inclusive Aranjuez - The objective of this activity is to learn how to bring Cultural Heritage closer to society, making it a participant in it through a renewed, modern, empathetic, accessible and sustainable vision of the Royal Site of Aranjuez. To do this, an activity is proposed in three stages: getting to know and empathize with the environment; discover the problems and challenges that it hides; and propose a creative solution to these, taking into account the different users through the use of the methodology of Design Thinking and technological and narrative tools (Aumentaty and Izi.travel).

Education in sensory processing disorders aimed at families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Within the framework of a research project, a multidisciplinary team of professors and the UCC+I have launched an informative course to provide families of minors with ASD with tools and knowledge. The sessions have been held online and have been taught by Beatriz Matesanz García, occupational therapist and teacher of early childhood education specialized in this area. The training has been carried out from March 19 to April 30.

STRATEGY FROM FARM TO FORK. Towards healthier and more sustainable food in Europe
The UCC+I and the Research Group in Analytical Chemistry applied to the environment, food and pharmaceuticals (GQAA-MAF) have organized this theoretical-practical workshop on the occasion of the celebration of the Europe Day, May 9. In addition to the collaboration of FECYT-Ministry of Science and Innovation, this activity is part of the project program The European Night of Researchers 2022 'Researchers at Schools' and is aimed at students in 6th grade of primary school and 1st-2nd grade of ESO with the aim of raising awareness about the problem of food waste in the home. Therefore, the activity is also related to SDG 12 RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION, promoting the reduction in the generation of food waste.
The theoretical part has dealt with the following aspects related to the farm-to-table strategy (1 hour):
- Promote more sustainable food consumption and healthy diets
- Front-of-pack nutrition labeling and sustainable food labeling
- Reduce food loss and waste
- Fight food fraud in the supply chain
The practical part has consisted of games (gymkhana type) that have been developed in the university laboratories and that have been carried out by students in groups (1 hour).

On the occasion of the commemoration of World Environment Day (June 5), the UCC+I promotes and coordinates the activity 'My garbage is worth its weight in gold!', a program of informative workshops with the aim of raising awareness among students of ESO and Baccalaureate on the material and energetic value of plastic waste. To carry out this activity, we have the collaboration of Dr. Martha Munoz Hernandez, researcher in the area of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at URJC. This activity is part of the program Researchers at Schools of the 'European Night of Researchers' project and has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The objectives of this theoretical-practical workshop are:
- Raise awareness of the material and energetic value of plastic waste.
- Study and classify the different types of plastics.
- Simulate a plastic treatment plant
- Identify the composition of the plastics used in everyday objects.

Scientific film cycles
On the occasion of the celebration of the XXX International Biennial of Scientific Cinema (BICC 20/21), organized by the Spanish Association of Scientific Cinema and Images (ASECIC), the URJC has been one of the virtual headquarters of the event.

SensibilizaTIC Conference
After the success of the first edition (held on December 21, 2020), have organized the March 16th 2021 these second days with the aim of disseminating the most innovative initiatives aimed at groups with special needs. The program has been developed in an online format and has had the participation of professionals and experts of recognized prestige both from centers that work with people with disabilities (NZXT, CEAPAT, Cabify, CENFIM, Fundación ONCE and Travelport) as well as researchers from universities from Valencia, from Bergen and King Juan Carlos.

STEM Talent Girl Workshops - URJC
In collaboration with the STEM Talent Girl program, with which the URJC has signed an agreement, the UCC+i has coordinated the organization of two sessions to publicize the work carried out by the URJC researchers and motivate the students to carry out a scientific-technological career if they wish, showing that women are also present in these fields.
The first session was held on April 13 in online format and has had the participation of professors Pilar Carrasco Garrido (area of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the Faculty of Health Sciences), Estefanía Martín Barroso (ETS Computer Engineering and member of the Information Technology Laboratory, LITE), Susana Borromeo López (Electronic Technology area of the Higher School of Experimental Sciences and Technology, ESCET) and Isabel Sierra Alonso (Research group in Analytical Chemistry Applied to the Environment, Food and Drugs, GQAA-MAF).

Royal place, Royal place. discovering heritage
The activities of the project 'Royal Place, Royal Place: Discover the Heritage' aim to publicize the Royal Sites from an inclusive and collective vision, showing the trades and professions that were carried out inside to show the different rooms that make up a palace.
During the 14 sessions held, the most disadvantaged groups have been shown their rich historical-artistic legacy through the digital materials created by the CINTER group, consisting of 3D models, animated videos and illustrated infographics.

Archeology for everyone. visual and sensory exposure
The sensitive exhibition "Archaeology for everyone" is organized by the Archeology area, the high-performance research group HASTHGAR, the consolidated research group Diversia, and students from the Archeology Laboratory of the Rey Juan Carlos University. The attendees have been able to see and touch reproductions of skulls and representative materials from the first hominids that inhabited the Iberian Peninsula until the Roman colonization.

How to read food labels?
El Analytical Chemistry Research Group Applied to the Environment, Food and Pharmaceuticals (GQAA-MAF) has prepared a theoretical-practical workshop on how to properly interpret food labels. The activity has been organized in collaboration with the City Council of Móstoles and was scheduled for June 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. in the building of the Department of Equality (Calle Ricardo Medem, nº 27, Móstoles), guaranteeing the pertinent security measures due to the current situation of the health pandemic.

Play with Sci! - from June 10 to 18, 2021
In collaboration with the high performance research group of Metallic Complexes and Nanostructured Materials with Biological and Catalytic Applications (COMET-NANO) of the URJC has designed a program of activities with the aim of approaching chemistry in an attractive way through games that combine competition and collaborative learning. The activities have been aimed at high school and university students.
The COMET-NANO research group has designed an escape room (El elixir de la vida) and a chemical version based on the Monopoly board game (El Chemipoly). In addition, he has adapted other traditional games, such as Who's Who (Chem is Chem?), and card games, such as Brisca (The brisca of science), with a chemical dimension. The participants have also been able to learn the Periodic Table through a “role-playing” board game based on the chemical elements and their discoverers (Deciphering the periodic table).

Archeology en route: ArqueoSequera Project
The activity "Archeology en route: ArqueoSequera Project" started on June 19 and has continued throughout the summer, along with the archaeological research projects that will be carried out in the area. During the initial day, the results of the excavation campaign in the hermitage and necropolis of San Nicolás in the municipality of La Sequera de Haza, located in the region of Ribera del Duero, Burgos, were presented. In addition, this day has included a guided tour of the site and the exhibition "Archaeology for all" which, together with the organization of several experimental archeology workshops, have served to bring Archeology and History closer to all audiences.
The activity was open to all audiences and did not require prior registration.
Knowing the earthquakes and volcanoes - June 22, 2021
The main objective of this activity is to increase scientific culture in seismicity and volcanism through the active participation of secondary school students and improve the education of society in the prevention of geological risks.
The Geology Group of the URJC has shown the simulation of seismic movements by carrying out analogous experiments of the geological processes that produce earthquakes and volcano landslides. The risks associated with these natural phenomena have also been explained to publicize the measures of prevention.

Connecting values, heritage and children's literature: intergenerational online educational activity to get to know Campo del Moro - June 26
The activity has been held in online format and has consisted of the projection of the story "The bear and the newts: a history of defense of heritage against an amusement park", through which questions about knowledge of the environment and education have been addressed in values, as well as respect and appreciation of heritage.
The activity has been aimed at children (4 -11 years) and their families. Throughout the session, questions were raised to the attendees and at the end of it, they were given as a "prize" a didactic map of Campo del Moro with the main locations mentioned in the story to encourage the participants to visit the place in person in their free time.

Inclusive Science Workshops, December 3, 2021
On the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), various workshops have been organized in collaboration with the CINTER, HASTHGAR, and DIVERSIA research groups, and the CINTER and HARQUA teaching innovation groups.
The workshops have been held in the CEIP Francisco de Goya, located in the Madrid district of Puerta del Ángel, from 09.00:14.00 a.m. to 3:11 p.m. and have been taught in all Infant and Primary groups (from XNUMX to XNUMX years old):
Workshop 1: Knowing other worlds. Languages and forms of non-verbal communication related to inclusion and disability.
Workshop 2: Prehistory for all. Prehistory through its objects and daily life with reproductions and archaeological pieces.
Workshop 3: Goya blind. The figure of Goya through drawing and the senses.
In addition, for the students and faculty of the Rey Juan Carlos University, the Seminar-Workshop on "Creation of 3D resources for carrying out inclusive activities in Heritage". In this session, both projects for the use of 3D resources for their application in inclusive science and the necessary rudiments have been presented so that the attendees at the end of it can make their own three-dimensional teaching tools or typhlological replicas, among other things.

Throughout the year, the UCC+i promotes and coordinates different scientific outreach activities that have the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science and Innovation:

This activity has been carried out during the 2019/2020 academic year in three public schools in the Community of Madrid with 3rd and 6th grade students. In monthly one-hour sessions, Mathematics has been shown in a playful way and curiosities have been taught where students have to apply their mathematical knowledge. Work has also been done on the social conception of the subject to motivate students and, above all, emphasis has been placed on the gender gap to encourage girls to study careers in the STEM branch. In addition, primary school teachers have intervened with the aim of providing teaching teams with tools to approach this subject in a more creative way.
Resi-Science
The 'Resi-Ciencia' project aims to bring environmental science and research closer to the young people of the Berzosa del Lozoya residence for minors, in the rural area of the northeast of the Community of Madrid. The participants, aged between 13 and 17, carry out environmental awareness and inclusive citizen science activities around the problem of urban solid waste and microplastic contamination in the water and sediments of the Atazar reservoir. Members of other associations such as Mar de Tierras, Econciencia and the Noctiluca Association also participate in these activities.

How can Animal Assisted Interventions help people with Attention Disorder with and without Hyperactivity?
The UCC+i promotes this activity in collaboration with the Animals and Society Chair of the URJC. For several days, different training sessions are offered for families with minors affected by ADHD with the aim of publicizing the benefits that Animal Assisted Interventions have at an emotional, social and cognitive level.
In collaboration with the PsicoAnimal association, on February 18, 2020, the activity was carried out with members of the ANCOAH Association (Association of Neurodevelopmental Alterations, Behavior, Learning and Hyperactivity).
For its part, the CITA Association has held its sessions at the EDIA center on March 5 and 12.
Archeology project for all. Human rights and accessibility to historical knowledge
The webinar "Archaeology and Heritage for all", held on July 3, 2020, was proposed as a closing space for the activity, developed in an interdisciplinary manner between the Hasthgar and Diversia research groups. The scientific team from the Archeology area and the DAI Chair, together with members of the CINTER group (Court, Image, Nobility and Territory), announced the different projects that have been carried out in recent years by researchers from the areas of Archaeology, Modern History and Research Methods and Diag. in education.
Sport and TEA: family-oriented training
On October 16, 2020, the DIVERSIA research group has held an online workshop with the aim of publicizing the benefits of practicing sports in boys and girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

On the table with food safety
El November 20th 2020 The conference 'At the table with food safety' was held in virtual format, with speakers from universities, research centers and the food sector. The common thread of these sessions was to value access to safe and nutritious food, a fundamental right of all individuals recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization ( WHO). In addition, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the WHO Agenda 2030 is the 'Zero Hunger and Food Security', which has also been very present in this activity. The concept of Food Security refers to access to safe, secure and nutritious food for all consumers at all times, for which it is necessary to resort to the use of different resources and strategies to ensure that all food is safe for consumption.
The conference 'At the table with food safety' is part of the IV CyTA Conference with Food Safety at the URJC, organized annually by the Research Group in Analytical Chemistry Applied to the Environment, Food and Drugs (GQAA-MAF) and held on November 20 on the occasion of the celebration of the National Food Safety Day (DNSA).

150th Birthday Party of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev and Meyer's Periodic Table. The United Nations General Assembly recognized this important milestone in the development of modern science with the proclamation of 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT). During the months of October and November, activities were carried out by professors and researchers from the Inorganic Chemistry area that covered various topics related to the Periodic Table:

Activities 2018
School Day of Mathematics 2018
There are different celebrations around mathematics that have a local or more global character, among them the School Mathematics Day, which is commemorated on May 12. On the occasion of this celebration and in collaboration with professors from the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences and the Education Observatory, the UCC+i organizes mathematical games workshops aimed mainly at students in the 3rd and 4th years of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO). With riddles, riddles, math magic and much more, students discover that Mathematics is fun.
La edition of this This year it was held on Friday, May 18, in two sessions (from 10:00 to 11:45 and from 12:00 to 13:45 p.m.), at the Madrid Campus of the URJC.
Art and Heritage in schools
The main objective of the "Art and Heritage in Schools" project has been to make society aware of itself as an active part in the conservation, enjoyment and dissemination of heritage.
The different sessions have dealt with carrying out different activities with Primary Education students. The theme chosen for this edition It has been based on "The Royal Gardens" through, mainly, the painting in the Prado Museum.
This initiative, promoted by the UCC+i, has had the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
The last celebration dates have taken place between October 3 and November 28, 2018 and the activity has been developed in the CEIP Francisco de Goya, Madrid.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities - Awareness Day, December 3, 2018
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3, the UCC+i has organized an awareness day. This action has been promoted by the Unit for Attention to Persons with Disabilities and has had the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
The objective of this conference has been to put the participants in the shoes of people with different types of disabilities. The activities held have been aimed at the entire URJC university community and have taken place on the Alcorcón Campus. The inclusive theater group Amás Escena has offered an interactive and participatory Theatre-Forum workshop and the Sanitas Foundation Chair for Inclusive Sports (CEDI) has given a sports activity: wheelchair rugby.
