The Development Cooperation and Volunteering Unit of the URJC, in collaboration with the Marrow Team The University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Madrid, is organizing, once again, the Bone Marrow Donation Campaign on the various campuses of the university. The main objective of this program is to provide information to students about the bone marrow donation process. In addition, all those students who wish to do so can take the first step and register as donors by having an analysis carried out and filling out a form.
These activities will begin on the Fuenlabrada campus starting this Monday. The Madrid Community's Medulla Team will be available to serve the university community in the hall of the student cafeteria on the Fuenlabrada campus, from 11:30 a.m. to 15:30 p.m., today, Monday, February 10, and tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11.
Emma Rodríguez Barcia, head of the URJC Development Cooperation and Volunteering Unit, has highlighted the importance of developing these actions at the university, since “by bringing donation closer to the campuses, not only do we achieve greater visibility and a greater number of donors, but we also offer students at our university the opportunity to help other people and form part of something much bigger: a network of people who can save lives.” Furthermore, “people who have donated bone marrow agree that the best gift of their life is knowing that someone somewhere in the world is still alive thanks to them,” she concluded.
Vicálvaro and Alcorcón, the next stops of the campaign
These days held in Fuenlabrada will kick off a series of meetings with the university community that will continue on other URJC campuses: on the 24th and 25th of February, the Médula Team of the Community of Madrid will be present, at the same time slot, in the hall of the library of the Vicálvaro campus. In March, it will be the turn of the Alcorcón campus, where the Médula Team will attend to students on the 11th and 12th of the aforementioned month in the hall of the student cafeteria.
The organization has requested the presence of volunteers to be present at the Team Médula stand to help and provide information on the days of the event between 11:00 a.m. and 16:00 p.m. Those interested in collaborating can sign up at the following link for the event.
