La URJC Student House has organised, for the third consecutive year, training sessions for student delegates from the different degrees of the university. On this occasion, the weekend chosen was from Friday 7 February to Sunday 9 February. As will happen in 2024, the guests have stayed during these days at the Real Centro Universitario María Cristina de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, very close to the Royal Monastery, in an ideal environment to work, rest and live together in harmony. To get there, the students travelled on different buses chartered by the university from the campuses of Aranjuez, Móstoles, Fuenlabrada and Vicálvaro.
The opening ceremony, which took place on Friday morning, was attended by, among others, the rector of the URJC, Javier Ramos; the vice-rector for students, Almudena López, and the director of the Casa del Estudiante, Javier Abengózar.
There were four workshops held over the course of the event, entitled: 'Lead the future: Xplore Leaders Methodology', 'Real cases of student representation', 'The role of student representatives in psychosocial health' and 'Building a university'. The campaign was also enriched by various presentations related to oral expression, persuasion and communication techniques, as well as how to organise events at the university and team management. However, not only were there training activities, but there was also time for leisure: a good example of this was the costume competition held on Saturday night.
An 'incredible' experience
The main objective of the conference, to share experiences and collaborate through collective learning, seems to have been more than fulfilled, since the students have managed to connect with other fellow representatives and participate in the active construction of a stronger university community.
In this sense, Paula Martín, third-year student representative for the degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources, says that she has come away from this adventure “with more knowledge, new friends and, above all, with the feeling that we can do great things together”. For this student representative, who studies at the Alcorcón campus, it has been “an incredible experience, which has reaffirmed the pride of being part of the URJC and of being an active part of its student representation”.
