Julia Abad, from the Psychology degree, and Alicia Sancho, from the Master's degree in General Health Psychology, have obtained third and fifth place, respectively, in the entrance exam for Specialized Health Training positions.

On January 25, the PIR test was carried out throughout Spain. A 210-question multiple choice test that allows access to places in clinical psychology residency or other specialties in the public health system in which they can complete their training.

This year was the first time that both students had taken part. “It was very surprising to see that I had placed so high, since I had just finished my studies,” explains Julia Abad. For her part, Alicia Sancho says that “I was not aware of how important this achievement is.”

Both students are very proud of what they have achieved. “This is a reward for all the effort they have put in over the last few months,” says Julia.

Goal-focused months

“I started in July and I studied every afternoon after work,” Alicia explains about her preparation. Julia also says that “at first I studied 6 days a week, combining it with my degree.”

Regarding the methods they used for this test, they explain that “we attended classes at a preparation academy.” For her part, Alicia points out that “I looked for efficient methods such as reading comprehension, as well as manuals.” “I always tried to use positive phrases to visualize my objective and overcome insecurities,” she adds.

These months have been a great sacrifice for the two students. “It has been hard because we have given up many things to study.”

An Uncertain Future

As for her expectations after the exam, Julia says that “I have to choose a hospital to be able to start working and find out what specialty to choose, although I have not ruled out doing a master's degree.” “I'm looking forward to entering residency and finding out what my specialty is,” says Alicia.
