Once again this year, the URJC Tourism Degree Delegation has organised its training sessions. The event, which has now reached its third edition, was held on 26 February in Vicálvaro and 27 February in Fuenlabrada. In both cases, the activities were held in the Degree Hall of the respective campuses.
The institutional opening, which took place on Wednesday morning, was led by Almudena López, vice-rector for students; Isabel M. Rodríguez, vice-dean for students and university extension of the FCEE, and José Ramón Sarmiento and Alberto Azuara, both coordinators of the organizing degree.
The first day of these conferences was attended by such prominent personalities as Pilar Talón, director of the Master in Revenue Management URJC, or Mercedes Tejero, manager of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV). Both participated in the presentations 'The role of Revenue Management' and 'The future of the AAVV and the TTOO', respectively. In the afternoon session, the focus was on the hotel sector: in this regard, agents from chains such as illusion, Meliá, Minor Hotels o Palladium.
Among the events on Thursday, already on the Fuenlabrada campus, it is worth highlighting the presentation of the Master in Protocol, Communication and Event Organization of the URJC, which was given by its director, Palma Peña. In addition, those present were able to enjoy presentations about the current railway panorama in Spain, with the presence of representatives of Renfe e Iryo, as well as various conferences on airspace management and the future of commercial aviation.
A meeting point between the tourism industry and the university community
As previously mentioned, one of the keynote speakers at the event was Alberto Azuara, professor of Marketing and Market Research, who pointed out the impact that these sessions could have on the future employment of the students themselves, since “the presence of leading professionals in the sector allows students to establish valuable contacts, which are very useful for carrying out external internships and even for possible job opportunities.”
Finally, Azuara also wanted to highlight the URJC's strong commitment to the tourism system: "By supporting these conferences, the University shows its commitment to the development of responsible and sustainable tourism, aligning itself with global trends and the demands of today's society," he concluded.
