During the 2024/25 academic year, the third edition of the RECICLANDOURJC Service-Learning project is being carried out in collaboration with the Green Office of the URJC. On this occasion, the professors of the Departments of Chemical, Energy and Mechanical Technology, and Chemical and Environmental Technology of the ESCETInés Moreno, María Linares, Isabel Pariente and Beatriz Paredes, have opted for an 'Escape Room' in which the participants, organised into teams, have competed against each other through simultaneous tests, with the aim of solving puzzles about the separation at source and recycling of household waste.

The activity, supervised by teachers, was prepared by six students from different ESCET grades, who are developing their final degree projects.
The event, funded by the Office of Learning and Service, seeks to raise awareness in the university community about new forms of recycling and the new legal framework for waste management, established by 'Law 7/2022 on waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy'. According to those responsible for the project, this regulation has recently changed and society, as well as the university community, has a deep lack of knowledge about it.

The activity was very well received by the students, filling the planned capacity. “The event can be considered a success, since the attendees, from different grades and schools, have shown great interest in the subject and have thanked the organization of this type of activity,” conclude the organizers of the event.
