One more year, the Rey Juan Carlos University hosts the 'Hackathon', a competition organized by the Hermes-URJC Association, which has the collaboration of the FCEE, FCCOM, ETSII and EIF, in addition to the support of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer.

The kick-off will take place at 14:00 pm this Friday, with the inauguration, which will take place in the Rector's auditorium. After that, the competition will begin, in which participants will have to solve various challenges, developing solutions that can later become business ideas. On this occasion, forty teams will compete, each of them made up of five students from different Madrid universities.

The dynamics of the event will have two distinct phases. Firstly, with the help of the collaborating companies, six different challenges will be proposed, from which a winning team will emerge that will go on to the next round. In this way, the six winners will face each other in a second phase that will determine the 'top' champion teams. In total, the prizes will exceed €6.000, with a portion in cash for the winners.

Among the companies participating in this project, some important ones can be highlighted, such as: Google, MAPFREImagine o Just EatOn the other hand, it is worth mentioning that, at all times, these groups of students will be accompanied by various mentors, some from the University and others from external entities, as well as a facilitator who will guide them throughout the process.

In short, it is a competition that allows students to get closer to the world of entrepreneurship. In this regard, Mario Balsera, organizer of this 'Hackathon' and student of the double degree in Economics and Law at the URJC, wanted to point out that "for the University, it is essential to have this type of event, since it allows students to train through practices that are not taught, in a conventional way, in classes." In this sense, "it is very important that students can apply the theory in the real world of business," he concluded.
