This conference was held on the Madrid Campus from Thursday to Friday afternoon, with the main objective of analysing the intersection between law, advertising and the fashion and cosmetics industries. “We want to offer a space for debate and reflection where academics, legal professionals, business representatives and other key players can share knowledge and experiences on the current and future challenges in these sectors,” said Rosa Tapia, director of the Department of Private Law at the URJC and one of the organisers of the conference, along with Enrique Ortega, professor of Commercial Law.
The symposium was presented from a multidisciplinary and international perspective. It not only addresses legal issues such as industrial property, advertising regulation and competition. It also explores business impact, business models, sustainability and internationalisation strategies. In addition, the URJC professor points out, “in this edition we have included the vision of models and professionals from the industry, which enriches the debate from a practical and creative perspective.”
On the first day, key topics were discussed, such as the challenges of fashion and retail companies, the challenges of the cosmetics industry, and the importance of industrial property and advertising strategies in these sectors. “The panel discussion on franchises in fashion and cosmetics was also very enriching, where expansion models and adaptation to a changing market were presented,” added Rosa Tapia.
Aspects such as exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on industrial property, and the role of sustainability and communication in the industry have been left for Friday's session. Numerous managers of fashion and cosmetics companies, lawyers, professors and representatives of fashion institutions have participated in these roundtables.
“Attendees will leave with a complete and up-to-date view of the legal, business and strategic challenges of fashion and cosmetics. They will be able to see first-hand how major brands and firms deal with key issues such as regulation, international expansion, brand protection and the evolution of advertising. In addition, this congress is a great opportunity to network with leading professionals and academics,” explains Rosa Tapia, who added that the organisers hope “that the Congress will produce clear conclusions on the need to update regulations on industrial property and advertising to adapt to technological and market changes. She also wanted to highlight “the importance of collaboration between lawyers, companies and regulators to face the new challenges of the sector. Another key aspect will be the reflection on the sustainability and social responsibility of these industries, which are increasingly important in their future development.”

The conference was opened on Thursday by the Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, María Enciso, the Director General of Commerce, Consumption and Services of the Community of Madrid, Marta Nieto, and the President of the General Council of the Spanish Bar Association, Salvador González Martín.
A comprehensive conference to gain in-depth knowledge of the legal, regulatory and business aspects surrounding the fashion and cosmetics sectors.
