Tomorrow, May 8, the Auditorium of the Management Building on the Fuenlabrada Campus will host the 1st CIDE-URJC-GO fit LAb International Conference, focusing on the role of physical exercise in the treatment of chronic conditions.

The initiative, which is free of charge, is organized by the Center for Research in Sport and Exercise (CIDE) from the URJC in collaboration with 'GO fit LAB'. Under the motto "An approach to quality training and cutting-edge research"The event will feature national and international experts who will address the impact of exercise on diseases such as type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and cancer, among others.

The day will also serve as a stage for the official presentation of the new Master in Physical Preparation for Health and Exercise in Chronic Pathologies of the URJC. The inauguration will be carried out by the dean of the Faculty of Education, Sports Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, Fernando del Villar, and Professor Alfonso Jiménez, director of CIDE-URJC.

Speakers include Dr. Silvano Zanuso (Technogym Italia), Prof. Robert Copeland (Sheffield Hallam University), Dr. María Herrera (Hospital Clínico San Carlos), and Prof. Miguel Fernández del Olmo, Deputy Director of CIDE-URJC. In addition, innovative projects such as the GO fit LAB-URJC Industrial Doctorate and the study on the influence of the menstrual cycle on responses to exercise will be presented.

The day will conclude with a roundtable discussion on the challenges and opportunities of exercise in health, moderated by Rosa de Tapia, president of COPLEF Madrid, and featuring key figures such as Alfonso Jiménez, Robert Copeland, and Javier Cánovas (UAPO Foundation).
