The Auditorium on the Fuenlabrada campus will host an exhibition of 16 finalist pieces from universities in Europe, America, and Asia on May 25.

The Rey Juan Carlos University, through the Student House and the Vice-Rectorate for Students, organizes the first edition of the '8-24 International University Short Film and Video Dance Festival', an event created with the aim of highlighting university audiovisual talent and promoting cultural exchange among young artists from around the world.

The 8-24 Festival was created with the mission of highlighting and recognizing university audiovisual talent, both in the fields of short films and video dance. "It's a program that not only celebrates emerging creativity but also promotes critical and aesthetic reflection on contemporary themes through innovative and committed audiovisual languages," explains Joaquín Rosas Pérez, a student in the Visual Arts and Dance program at the University and director of the festival.

The finalists include dance videos such as "Resilience," "Living Body," "Dialectic," and "Reflection," and short films such as "Friend," "I Hear You," "Game Zone," "Sprouting into Ashes," and "Crumbs of Love," which address diverse topics such as identity, memory, the body, migration, and symbolic violence. The selection process was carried out by a jury composed of filmmaker Marta Lallana García, professor and researcher at the URJC Mario Rajas Fernández, and visual artist Gabriel Lledón Flores.

El event's audience It will be held next Friday from 17:00 PM to 20:00 PM in the Auditorium on the Fuenlabrada campus. It will be open to the university community and will offer attendance credits to URJC students. It will also feature artists from countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Lebanon, and Uruguay.
