The world's challenges require specialists who know how to analyze them and who can help make the best possible decisions to provide the best solutions to the challenges they pose.
With the aim of training these experts, the Master in Global Studies from the Rey Juan Carlos University, the only one in Madrid's public university system and third among public universities in Spain, along with UPF and the public University of Salamanca. Furthermore, this training program is inspired by models from the London School of Economics and other universities in the English-speaking world.
As Isabel Enciso Alonso-Muñumer, co-director of the master's program with Professor Fernando Reinares, explains, "We analyze globalization as a historical process. We examine, from a global perspective, the interrelationships between continents, nations, and regions. We address current issues, such as global governance, and how we see the future in terms of responding to global challenges. We need to have trained analysts; we need to be able to generate knowledge for better decision-making."
The Master's in Global Studies was born with a clear international focus, as it collaborates extensively with the "Cultural Strategies for Cooperation and Development" program at the Universitá Roma Trè (Italy) to develop a double master's degree for the 26/27 academic year. Discussions are also underway with the University of Jonnköping and the University of Leipzig (both partners in the EULiST Alliance) to develop joint strategies.
Furthermore, this new degree has the trust and collaboration of the Elcano Royal Institute, the most important geostrategic analysis think tank in Spain. For Isabel Enciso, "this is an innovative and interdisciplinary master's degree with the participation of the university's various faculties and schools."
The master's degree offers internship programs in various institutions across a variety of levels—municipal, regional, and national—where programs with a global vision are implemented.
A degree that will provide anyone interested in diplomacy, political science, multilateral institutions, national institutions, multinational companies, academic research and teaching, NGOs, and the third sector with knowledge that can offer solutions to the challenges of today's world.
